Making Silver Stud Earrings
I recently shared these process photos to my Facebook and Instagram accounts, and wanted to share them here with you too. Here's a short summary of the making of my Fine Silver & Sterling Silver stud earrings.

The fine silver clay is prepared and for the sterling silver pieces the wire is hand shaped, soldered and cleaned.

After firing, the silver clay is now 99.9% Pure Fine Silver.

Using my trusty "third hand" reverse action pliers I hold the ear post steady whilst soldering onto the rear of the earring,

After soldering the pieces can have some fire scale discolouration. I use a warm bath of safety pickle solution to remove the scale.

Once removed and cleaned from the safety pickle, I work harden the pieces using a hammer and pliers.

Finally, the pieces are cleaned, sanded and tumble polished.

Now they just need push back scrolls and they're ready to go.
